Ingredients

For the Air Fried Apple Wedges
  • 2 large apples e.g., Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg or apple pie spice optional
For the Caramel Whipped Cream Dipping Sauce
  • 0.5 cup cold heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 0.25 cup caramel sauce slightly warmed
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • Extra cinnamon for sprinkling, optional

Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer

Method

  1. Wash, core, and slice apples into 1/2-inch thick wedges.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss apple wedges with olive oil. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon (and optional spices). Sprinkle over apples and toss to coat.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange apples in a single layer in the basket (cook in batches if needed).
  4. Air fry for 10-15 minutes, shaking basket halfway through, until tender-crisp and caramelized.
  5. While apples cook, make dip: In a medium bowl, beat cold heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  6. Gently fold in the slightly warmed caramel sauce until just combined.
  7. Serve warm air-fried apple wedges immediately with the caramel whipped cream dipping sauce. Sprinkle with extra cinnamon if desired.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for best results. Use firm apples that hold their shape well. Warm the caramel slightly before folding into whipped cream to prevent clumping.
