Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.5 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients & Add-ins
  • 1 cup milk whole or buttermilk
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups apples peeled and finely diced
Glaze
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3-4 tbsp milk adjust for consistency
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat waffle iron. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, spices, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry and mix until just combined. Fold in diced apples.
  4. Scoop batter onto hot waffle iron and cook for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Whisk glaze ingredients together until smooth.
  6. Dip warm waffles into glaze or drizzle over top. Let set on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Chop apples very small to ensure they cook through within the short waffle cooking time.
