Method
- Wash the strawberries thoroughly and dry them completely. Peel the bananas.
- To create a stable base, carefully slice a very thin, flat strip off the bottom curve of each banana. Cut each banana in half width-wise to create 4 car bodies.
- Slice several strawberries horizontally into 1/4-inch thick rounds to act as the wheels.
- Cut a small notch or divot into the top of each banana to create a 'seat' for the driver.
- Using a tiny dab of peanut butter or yogurt as 'glue', attach four strawberry wheels to the sides of each banana car.
- Cut tiny circles out of a leftover banana slice (using a straw or piping tip) and glue them to the center of the strawberry wheels for hubcaps.
- Place a whole strawberry (the 'driver') into the notch on top of the banana.
- Serve immediately and enjoy the fun!
Notes
Best served immediately. To prevent bananas from browning if sitting out, brush lightly with a mixture of lemon juice and water before assembling. Avoid using toothpicks for children; use edible alternatives like yogurt or pretzel sticks.
