Ingredients
  

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 yolk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla. Whisk until glossy.
  4. Fold in flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Press dough evenly into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 22-25 minutes until edges are golden. Center should still be soft.
  8. Cool completely in pan before cutting.

Notes

Do not overbake! The bars continue to set as they cool. Overbaking leads to dry bars.
