- If making homemade glaze: simmer balsamic vinegar and optional honey/maple syrup in a small saucepan for 5-10 minutes until reduced and thickened. Set aside.
- Remove rind from Brie and slice thinly. Gently crush fresh blackberries (if using) or have jam ready.
- On two bread slices, arrange Brie. On the other two, spread crushed blackberries/jam. Drizzle balsamic glaze over blackberries.
- Combine halves to form sandwiches. Generously butter one side of each sandwich.
- Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place buttered side down, butter top side. Cook 3-5 minutes per side until golden and cheese is melted and gooey. Press gently.
- Remove from pan, slice diagonally, and serve immediately while hot and gooey.
Notes
Use thick-cut bread for best results. For extra flavor, add a thin slice of prosciutto. Adjust balsamic glaze to your preferred sweetness/tanginess.
