Ingredients

Main Components
  • 2 slices sourdough bread thick cut
  • 4 oz fresh burrata cheese drained and patted dry
  • 2 tbsp basil pesto
  • 1 tbsp butter salted, softened
  • 1 pinch salt and black pepper
  • 1 tsp balsamic glaze optional

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet
  • Spatula
  • Knife

Method

  1. Remove burrata from brine and slice carefully. Pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread generously.
  3. Flip bread over. Spread pesto on the unbuttered side of one slice.
  4. Place the burrata on top of the pesto and smash gently with a fork to spread it out. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
  6. Place sandwich in a skillet over medium-low heat. Cook for 4-5 minutes until deep golden brown.
  7. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and warm.
  8. Let rest for 1 minute before slicing in half.

Notes

Ensure the burrata is room temperature before cooking for the best melt.
