Ingredients
  

Bread Batter
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Dutch-processed preferred
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 0.5 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 0.5 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Glaze & Topping
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk adjust for consistency
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 loaf pan.
  2. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. In a separate large bowl, whisk sugar, eggs, sour cream, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined. Fold in 1/2 cup chocolate chips.
  5. Pour half the batter into the pan. Spoon cherry pie filling over the center. Top with remaining batter.
  6. Bake for 55-65 minutes until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  7. Cool in pan for 20 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Whisk glaze ingredients together. Pour over cooled bread and sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips.

Notes

Tent with foil if browning too fast. Use cherry pie filling for best moisture.
