Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until pale and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Beat in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until completely smooth.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Scoop 1.5 tablespoon portions of dough, roll into balls, and place 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets. Flatten slightly.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft. Let cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Microwave chocolate chips and coconut oil in 20-second bursts, stirring until smooth and melted.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate heavily over the cooled cookies. Let set before serving.
Notes
Ensure you are using sweetened condensed milk, NOT evaporated milk. The dough will be thick and sticky, this is normal.
