Christmas Tree Deviled Eggs

Classic deviled eggs given a festive makeover! The creamy yolk filling is piped high to look like Christmas trees, topped with cheese stars and fresh herbs.

Ingredients
  

Eggs
  • 12 large eggs older eggs peel best
Filling
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
Garnish
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill finely chopped
  • 1 tsp paprika for dusting
  • 1 block cheddar cheese thick slice for cutting stars

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Piping bag
  • Large Star Piping Tip
  • Mini Star Cookie Cutter

Method
 

  1. Place eggs in a large pot and cover with water by 1 inch. Bring to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 12 minutes.
  3. Transfer eggs to an ice bath and cool completely. Peel and slice in half lengthwise.
  4. Remove yolks and place in a bowl. Mash yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper until perfectly smooth.
  5. Transfer filling to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  6. Pipe filling into egg white cavities, swirling upward to create a tall tree shape.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped dill (needles) and paprika (ornaments).
  8. Cut small stars out of the cheese slice and place one on top of each egg.
  9. Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.

Notes

To make the filling green, add avocado or a drop of food coloring.
