Ingredients

Overnight Oats Base
  • 0.5 cup old-fashioned rolled oats do not use quick oats
  • 0.5 cup milk of choice dairy, almond, oat, etc.
  • 0.25 cup Greek yogurt plain or vanilla
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds optional, for thickening
  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup or honey, to taste
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
Flavor Add-ins
  • 0.25 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tsp fresh orange zest
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 pinch salt

Equipment

  • Mason jar or airtight container
  • Spoon
  • Grater/Zester

Method

  1. In a mason jar or small bowl, combine the rolled oats, dried cranberries, chia seeds (if using), and salt. Stir briefly.
  2. Add the milk, Greek yogurt, fresh orange juice, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and orange zest.
  3. Stir vigorously with a spoon to ensure all ingredients are well combined and there are no dry clumps of oats or chia seeds at the bottom.
  4. Cover the jar tightly with a lid. Place in the refrigerator to soak for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  5. In the morning, uncover, give the oats a good stir, add toppings if desired (like nuts or extra fruit), and enjoy cold.

Notes

For a vegan version, use plant-based milk and yogurt, and maple syrup instead of honey.
