Ingredients

Baked Brie
  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel brie cheese
Cranberry Pecan Topping
  • 0.5 cup dried cranberries
  • 0.5 cup chopped pecans
  • 0.25 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup pure maple syrup recommended
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 0.25 tsp ground cinnamon
For Serving (Optional)
  • fresh rosemary sprig for garnish
  • crackers, baguette slices, or apple slices for serving

Equipment

  • Small oven-safe serving dish or baking sheet
  • Small saucepan

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place brie on an oven-safe dish or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, pecans, brown sugar, maple syrup, butter, and cinnamon.
  3. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until butter melts and sugar dissolves. Mixture will become a thick, gooey, viscous sauce (3-5 mins).
  4. Spoon the warm cranberry pecan mixture over the top of the brie wheel.
  5. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until brie is visibly softened and gooey in the center.
  6. Garnish with rosemary if desired. Serve immediately with crackers, baguette, or apple slices for scooping.

Notes

Do not overbake the brie, as the rind can burst and the cheese may flow out. This appetizer is best served warm when the cheese is most gooey and the topping is at its ideal viscous consistency. Topping can be made ahead and reheated.
