Ingredients

Filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup pepper jack cheese shredded
  • 8 strips bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
Coating
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1.5 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying

Equipment

  • Deep fryer or Dutch oven
  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Cookie scoop

Method

  1. Cook bacon until crispy, drain fat, and crumble into small pieces.
  2. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, shredded cheeses, bacon bits, and garlic powder until uniform.
  3. Scoop tablespoons of mixture and roll into balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Freeze the balls for 30-45 minutes until firm.
  5. Set up 3 bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Dip each frozen ball into flour, then egg, then panko. For best results, double dip in egg and panko.
  7. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry balls in small batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Drain on wire rack or paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Ensure the balls are frozen solid before frying to prevent the cheese from leaking out immediately. Serve with ranch or marinara.
