Ingredients

For the Frankenstein Pizza
  • 1 package Rectangular Pizza Dough approx. 13-16 oz, pre-made or homemade
  • 0.5 cup Pesto Sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 2 Hard-Boiled Eggs peeled
  • 1 can Sliced Black Olives 2.25 oz, drained
  • 0.25 cup Whole Black Olives pitted, for hair (or 2 tbsp black olive paste/tapenade)
  • Olive Oil for brushing
  • Fresh Parsley chopped, optional garnish

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Piping bag (optional)

Method

  1. Prepare Dough: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out rectangular pizza dough onto a greased baking sheet. Brush edges with olive oil.
  2. Pesto Base: Spread pesto sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small crust border. This thick, gooey pesto forms the 'skin'.
  3. Cheese Features: Arrange shredded mozzarella cheese to form Frankenstein's face shape (forehead, cheeks, chin).
  4. Eyes & Nose: Halve hard-boiled eggs; place cut-side up for eyes. Use sliced olives for pupils. Cut cheese/egg triangle for nose.
  5. Mouth & Bolts: Use sliced black olives for a jagged mouth and perpendicular slices for stitches. Use whole black olives for neck bolts.
  6. Hair: Pipe (or spread) thick black olive paste/minced olives along the top edge for Frankenstein's hair.
  7. Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes until crust is golden and mozzarella is melted, bubbly, and gloriously gooey.
  8. Serve: Cool slightly before slicing. Garnish with parsley if desired. Enjoy your spooky, gooey monster!

Notes

For a vegetarian version, ensure your pesto is made without Parmesan (or use a vegan alternative). You can use roasted red peppers or bell pepper strips for additional 'scar' details.
