Ingredients

Sandwich Base
  • 4 slices brioche or thick white bread
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar plus more for dusting
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strawberries sliced
Custard Dip
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.33 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon ground
  • 2 tbsp butter for frying
  • 2 tbsp strawberry jam optional garnish

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet
  • Hand Mixer
  • Shallow Dish
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a small bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture generously over one side of each bread slice.
  3. Layer sliced strawberries on two of the bread slices, then top with the remaining slices (cream cheese side down) to form sandwiches.
  4. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, and cinnamon.
  5. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Quickly dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides lightly (do not soak too long).
  7. Place sandwiches in the hot skillet. Fry for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from heat, cut in half, and dust with powdered sugar. Serve with strawberry jam or syrup if desired.

Notes

Use day-old bread for better structural integrity when dipping.
