Ingredients

Pizza Components
  • 1 pre-made pizza crust or 1 ball pizza dough (16 oz)
  • 0.5 cup pizza sauce thick, gooey consistency
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese low-moisture, full-fat for gooey melt
  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese for ghosts
  • 1 can black olives sliced and minced for faces/decoration

Equipment

  • Baking sheet or Pizza stone
  • Pizza cutter
  • Ghost-shaped cookie cutter (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Place pizza crust on a baking sheet or pizza peel.
  2. Spread the thick, gooey pizza sauce evenly over the crust, leaving a small border.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Scatter a few sliced black olives.
  4. Using a ghost-shaped cookie cutter (or a paring knife), cut ghost shapes out of the provolone cheese slices.
  5. Bake the pizza for 10-12 minutes, until the mozzarella is bubbly and the crust is golden.
  6. Remove the pizza from the oven. Carefully place the provolone ghosts onto the hot, bubbly mozzarella.
  7. Return the pizza to the oven for 2-3 MORE MINUTES, just until the ghosts are soft and slightly melted (viscous, but not dissolved).
  8. Remove from oven. Immediately use tiny minced black olive pieces to create eyes and mouths on the hot ghosts. Slice and serve.

Notes

The key is to add the provolone ghosts only for the last 2-3 minutes of baking so they hold their shape!
