Ingredients

Base Concentrate
  • 1 tbsp dried culinary lavender buds
  • 1 tbsp loose-leaf black tea (or 2 tea bags) e.g., Earl Grey, English Breakfast
  • 1.5 cups water filtered
  • 2 tbsp honey or sweetener of choice, plus extra for drizzle
Assembly
  • 1 cup milk of choice dairy or plant-based
  • ice cubes
  • Dried lavender buds for garnish

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth
  • Milk frother (optional)
  • Tall glasses

Method

  1. Prepare the lavender concentrate: In a small saucepan, combine dried lavender buds, loose-leaf black tea (or bags), and water. Cover and steep for 3-5 minutes, being careful not to over-steep lavender.
  2. Add honey to the saucepan and stir until dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Strain the lavender-tea concentrate using a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean glass, jar, or small pitcher. Squeeze to extract all flavor. Let it cool completely to room temperature or chill.
  4. For the optional foam layer: Add about ¼ cup of cold milk to a frother or clean jar. Shake vigorously for 30-60 seconds. Microwave (without the metal lid!) to stabilize the foam if needed.
  5. Assemble the drink: Fill two tall glasses with ice cubes.
  6. Pour the cooled lavender-tea concentrate evenly between the glasses.
  7. Pour the remaining ¾ cup of milk (the unfrothed portion) over the concentrate in each glass.
  8. Top with the prepared milk foam and garnish with extra dried lavender buds and a drizzle of honey.

Notes

Use culinary-grade lavender for best results. Adjust sweetener to taste. Try different teas and milks for flavor variation.
