Ingredients

Filling & Assembly
  • 1 package puff pastry 2 sheets, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 3-4 medium fresh jalapenos thinly sliced
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
Topping
  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp water for egg wash
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped

Equipment

  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowls
  • Rolling pin
  • Pizza cutter or sharp knife
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out one sheet of puff pastry slightly.
  4. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the pastry sheet, leaving a small border. Top with jalapeno slices.
  5. Place the second sheet of pastry on top and press gently to seal.
  6. Cut the layered pastry into 1-inch wide strips. Twist each strip and place on prepared baking sheets, pressing ends down.
  7. Whisk egg with water and brush over the twists. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Cool slightly, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

For less heat, remove seeds from jalapenos. Add crumbled cooked bacon to the filling for a meaty version.
