Method
- Preheat your oven or air fryer according to the frozen french fry package directions. Cook the fries until they are extra golden and crispy. Transfer hot fries to a large bowl, toss with 1 teaspoon of the Cajun seasoning, and arrange on a serving platter.
- While the fries are cooking, prepare the cheese sauce. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes to create a roux.
- Slowly pour the warm milk into the roux, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Increase heat to medium and simmer until the mixture thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat completely. Gradually whisk in the freshly grated cheddar cheese a handful at a time until the sauce is completely smooth and velvety.
- Generously pour the warm cheese sauce over the prepared crispy french fries.
- Drizzle the ranch dressing evenly over the cheese-covered fries.
- Sprinkle the remaining Cajun seasoning heavily over the top of the fries and garnish with fresh chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
Notes
If the cheese sauce becomes too thick as it cools, return it to low heat and whisk in a splash of milk until it reaches the desired consistency. For the best melting results, do not use pre-shredded cheese in a bag.
