Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x9 baking dish or large loaf pan.
- Boil the macaroni in salted water for 2 minutes less than package directions (very al dente). Drain and rinse with cool water.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, milk, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
- Add the cooked macaroni, 1.5 cups of cheddar, and 0.5 cups of mozzarella to the meat mixture. Fold until evenly combined.
- Press the mixture firmly into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until the beef is cooked through.
- Remove from oven and top with the remaining cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly golden brown.
- Let rest for 15 minutes before slicing to allow the loaf to set.
Notes
You can use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version, but add a little extra olive oil to keep it moist.
