Ingredients

Pineapple Base
  • 2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup pineapple juice or water use less for thicker slushie
  • 1 tbsp honey or sugar optional, to taste
Strawberry Swirl
  • 1.5 cups frozen strawberries
  • 0.5 cup water or milk
  • 1 tsp lime juice optional, for brightness

Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Small bowl (for strawberry mix)

Method

  1. Prepare the Pineapple Slushie: In a high-powered blender, combine the 2 cups of frozen pineapple, 1 cup of pineapple juice/water, and honey (if using). Blend on high until a thick, smooth, **viscous consistency** is reached. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides several times. Set aside in a bowl and place in the freezer.
  2. Prepare the Strawberry Slushie: Rinse out the blender. Add the 1.5 cups of frozen strawberries, 0.5 cup water/milk, and lime juice (if using). Blend until smooth and thick, adding only small splashes of liquid if needed to help the blades move.
  3. Remove the pineapple slushie from the freezer. To create the swirl effect, use a spoon to scoop alternating layers of the pineapple slushie and the strawberry slushie into a serving cup, gently turning the spoon against the side to create streaks.
  4. Alternatively, place both slushie mixes into separate piping bags and pipe alternating vertical stripes into the cup for a cleaner swirl.
  5. Serve immediately with a spoon or thick straw. Note that homemade slushies melt quickly!

Notes

For a richer, creamier texture, replace the water/juice with coconut milk in both blends. Use less liquid overall for an extremely thick, soft-serve consistency.
