Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper freshly ground
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1.75 cups milk whole milk preferred
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup cooked ham diced small
  • 1.5 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives chopped

Method
 

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions. Preheat oven to 200°F (keeps waffles warm).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs, milk, and melted butter until well combined.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. Fold in the diced ham, shredded cheese, and chives gently.
  6. Grease the waffle iron with cooking spray. Pour batter onto the hot iron (amount depends on iron size).
  7. Cook for 4-6 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve hot with honey mustard, maple syrup, or a fried egg.

Notes

For extra crispiness, toast leftover waffles in a toaster before eating. Do not microwave.
