Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar optional
  • 0.5 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Mix-ins
  • 0.5 cup holiday sprinkles jimmies or confetti style

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar together on medium-high speed for 3-4 minutes until fluffy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing on low speed just until flour disappears.
  6. Fold in sprinkles by hand.
  7. Scoop dough into 1.5 tablespoon balls and place 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft. Do not overbake.
  9. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.

Notes

Store in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them soft.
