Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease.
- In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Stir in the granulated sugar until combined.
- Whisk in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Stir with a rubber spatula just until combined; do not overmix. Fold in the chopped Kit Kats (and chocolate chips, if using).
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Evenly layer the whole fun-size Kit Kat bars on top of the batter.
- Pour the remaining brownie batter over the Kit Kat layer and carefully spread to cover. Sprinkle with crushed Kit Kat pieces.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before lifting out with the parchment paper and slicing into squares.
Notes
For the cleanest cuts, cool the brownies *completely* and then refrigerate for 1 hour before slicing with a hot, sharp knife.
