- Whisk warm milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp granulated sugar. Let sit 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, eggs, remaining granulated sugar, and salt. Whisk to combine.
- Using a dough hook, gradually add flour. Knead 5-7 minutes until dough is smooth and slightly tacky.
- Transfer to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch dough down, roll out into a 12x18-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread softened butter evenly over dough. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle evenly over butter, pressing gently.
- Roll dough tightly into a log. Use dental floss to cut into 12 slices.
- Place rolls in a greased 9x13 dish. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden.
- Beat softened cream cheese and butter. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
- Spread a bit of icing over hot rolls to melt in, then spread remaining icing after 10 minutes. Serve warm.
Notes
Make ahead: After cutting the rolls and placing them in the pan, cover tightly and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, let them sit at room temp for 1-2 hours to rise before baking.
