Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Unfold thawed puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface. Gently roll out any creases.
- Cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter. Place them on the prepared baking sheets spaced 1 inch apart.
- Use a smaller cutter or knife to lightly score a border inside each heart (don't cut through). Prick the center with a fork.
- Place 1 teaspoon of jam in the center of each heart, staying within the scored border.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash mixture.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with melted chocolate if desired.
Notes
Do not overfill the hearts or the jam will spill out during baking.
