Method
- In a small bowl, whisk vanilla syrup (or simple syrup + vanilla extract) with well-chilled heavy cream/coconut cream until thick and viscous. Set aside.
- Moisten glass rim, then dip into granulated sugar for an unevenly sugared rim (optional).
- Pour cranberry juice into the prepared glass, filling about halfway.
- Gently and slowly pour the vanilla cream mixture over the back of a spoon held just above the cranberry juice surface, filling the glass. Embrace imperfect layering and color bleeding.
- Garnish haphazardly with fresh cranberries and a crooked orange slice.
- Serve immediately while cold.
Notes
For best layering, ensure all liquids are well-chilled and pour the cream slowly over a spoon. For an adult cocktail, add 1.5-2 oz of vodka or gin to the cranberry juice layer.
