Homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Bars

A 4-ingredient, no-bake treat combining rich chocolate, creamy peanut butter, and crispy rice cereal, finished with flaked sea salt. Better than store-bought candy bars!

Ingredients
  

The Bars
  • 1.5 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips can substitute milk or dark chocolate
  • 0.33 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup Rice Krispies cereal or any puffed rice cereal
Topping
  • 1 tsp flaked sea salt Maldon or similar

Equipment

  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Square baking pan (8x8)
  • Spatula
  • Parchment paper

Method
 

  1. Line an 8x8 inch square baking pan or a standard loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and peanut butter.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring vigorously in between, until completely melted and smooth (about 60-90 seconds total).
  4. Pour the Rice Krispies cereal into the melted chocolate mixture.
  5. Fold gently with a spatula until every piece of cereal is coated in chocolate.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan. Spread evenly and press down slightly to compact.
  7. Immediately sprinkle the flaked sea salt over the top while the chocolate is still wet.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until set firm.
  9. Lift out of the pan using the parchment paper and cut into bars or squares.

Notes

Store in the refrigerator for the best crunch. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
