Ingredients

Hard Butters
  • 0.5 cup Shea Butter refined or unrefined
  • 0.5 cup Mango Butter
  • 0.25 cup Coconut Oil solid state
Oils & Add-ins
  • 0.25 cup Jojoba Oil or Sweet Almond Oil
  • 2 tbsp Arrowroot Powder to reduce greasiness
  • 1 tsp Vitamin E Oil
  • 20-30 drops Essential Oils Lavender, Rose, or Vanilla
  • 1 tsp Pink Mica Powder optional for color

Equipment

  • Double Boiler
  • Electric hand mixer
  • Piping bag and star tip
  • Glass jars

Method

  1. In a double boiler, melt Shea butter, Mango butter, and Coconut oil until completely liquid.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the Jojoba oil and Vitamin E oil.
  3. Place the bowl in the freezer for 15-20 minutes until the mixture cools to a semi-solid, opaque mash (do not let it freeze solid).
  4. Using an electric mixer, whip the mixture on medium-high speed.
  5. As it becomes fluffy, add the Arrowroot powder, essential oils, and mica powder.
  6. Continue whipping for 5-10 minutes until stiff peaks form and volume doubles.
  7. Transfer to a piping bag and pipe into clean jars. Store in a cool place.

Notes

If the butter melts in hot weather, simply re-whip it. Keep water out of the mixture to prevent spoilage.
