Ingredients

Brownie Base
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
Toppings
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 2 tbsp chocolate fudge sauce warmed
  • 1 pinch sea salt flakes Maldon style

Equipment

  • 10-inch Cast Iron Skillet
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, beating well until combined.
  4. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour batter into the skillet and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes. The center should still be slightly soft.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  8. Top with generous scoops of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge sauce, and sea salt. Serve warm immediately.

Notes

Be careful not to overbake; the skillet retains heat and will continue cooking the brownie after it is removed from the oven.
